North Sea Decommissioning - Banff / Kyle

CNR International as field operator and Teekay Petrojarl Floating Production UK Ltd. as the Floating Production Storage & Offloading (FPSO) and Floating Production Offloading (FSO) system provider have been working together to extend field life and maximise economic recovery at the subsea Banff and Kyle fields. When the fields became no longer economic CNR International submitted a Cessation of Production (CoP) application to the Oil & Gas Authority (OGA) which resulted in the permanent CoP of the Banff and Kyle fields on 1 June 2020.

Decommissioning Programme Phase 1 Activities

In June 2020, the joint CNR International and Teekay Petrojarl Floating Production UK Ltd. Decommissioning Programme for Phase 1: FPSO and FSO sail away was approved. This involved the flushing of pipelines, disconnection of risers and moorings systems from the FPSO and FSO, creating a clear water column and sail away of the FPSO and FSO.

Decommissioning Programmes: Phase 2

CNR International in conjunction with Teekay Petrojarl Floating Production UK Ltd. will consider the most appropriate decommissioning arrangements for the subsea structures, pipelines and drill cuttings, balancing environmental, societal, technical, safety and economic aspects. We will consult early, broadly and transparently as part of our rigorous planning process.
